Post-walk comments

I enjoyed the Chiltern Link much more than I’d expected to. It was a very pleasant walk, although the fact that the weather was so good is, as usual, probably partly responsible for my positive feelings about it. I think it would be a pretty good introduction to the Chiltern Hills for anybody who has not walked there before, as it includes woods, grassy meadows, corn fields, quaint hamlets and villages, remote cottages and farms, long valleys and some short but quite steep hills. The only thing missing from the mix is the usual type of Chiltern beech wood (apart from Concord wood, possibly) – there were several woods on the route, but they contained Ash and other trees as well as beech.
