About the Chiltern Link

The Chiltern Link is an 8-mile walk that connects the Ridgeway near Wendover with the Chess Valley Walk at Chesham. It can be walked in either direction, and use can be made of the train stations at Wendover and Chesham. The route is indicated by signposts and waymarks, and is also marked on the latest OS Explorer map.

Much of the Chiltern Link follows a pack-horse route that was used for carrying shoes from Wendover to the centre of this local industry at Chesham. It passes through typical Chiltern scenery.

Buckinghamshire County Council publishes a leaflet describing the Chiltern Link, which can be ordered from their web site (see my links page). Most of the historical or other factual data that I quote in my journal is taken from this source. The route is also shown on OS Explorer map 181.
