Pete's Walks - The Chiltern Chain Walk (2)

About my Walk

When I first devised the Chiltern Chain Walk, I actually did each walk in both directions (clockwise and anti-clockwise) but only recorded the walk (on this web site) in whichever direction I thought was best. In many cases the walks were equally good in both directions, and in all cases there was really little to choose between the two directions. So four years after first walking and describing the Chiltern Chain Walk, I thought I should go back and do the walks again in the opposite direction, this time recording them on this web site.

I did these 20 circular walks between June 2012 and May 2013 (I would probably have finished them by February 2013, if it wasn't for the onset of what eventually turned out to be Glandular Fever). I chose to do them in a fairly random order rather than sequentially, tending to alternate one walk fairly close to my home in Kensworth with one much further away. I intended to do one or two of the walks each month, interspersed with other walks (the main reason being that the Chiltern Chain Walks average about 12 miles, and I wanted to do some others that were closer to the 15 miles I usually aim at).

All the mileages given are very rough approximations. They are based on the figures given when I have drawn the route with Google Maps.

Here is a very rough map of the entire Chiltern Chain Walk. There are more detailed and accurate maps provided for each of the twenty individual walks.
