Pete's Walks- Bledlow and Radnage (page 3 of 4)

If you are considering walking this route yourself, please see my disclaimer. You may also like to see these notes about the maps and GPX files.

As I continued across a sequence of meadows and paddocks to reach Radnage Church, a Buzzard circled around overhead - from its calls I think it was a young one. I walked through the churchyard, passing the church on my right (it is unusual in having a central tower rather than one at an end). I then crossed a lane and continued across a long meadow or pasture to reach another lane.

I turned right along the lane, leaving the Chiltern Way which went left. When the lane turned left I went more or less straight on along the drive to Daws Hill Farm (a sign indicated there was a vineyard there too). The drive seemed pretty much like a lane, with high hedges either side. After a few hundred yards a bridleway forked left from the drive, and I followed it for about three-quarters of a mile until I reached Hedgerley Wood (I went straight on where a path went right, that path being the original route I used when I first did this walk - today I was following 'Alternative 3' on my Google map of the walk).

On reaching the wood, I forked right onto a path going uphill through the wood. I looked out for Nettle-leaved Bellflowers along this path, having seen them here before, and spotted them in several places. Near the top of the slope I passed close to a cottage on my right, the path continuing on to reach a road, where I turned right.
