The path then continued straight on through Greenlane Wood. It turned left just before exiting the wood, and then continued beside the wood on my left. I soon reached a fingerpost that had fallen down, where I turned right and crossed another field (I'd walked this path a few times before).

This path brought me to a bridleway where I turned right (it was the same bridleway that had taken me to to Upper Wood Farm, and I was now heading back in the direction of the farm). After a while I had Long Wood on my left, and where it ended I turned left onto a footpath (the route from here to Briden's Camp I'd only walked two or three times before, and the last time was a dozen or more years ago). The path initially ran between the wood on my left and a fence. On entering another field, it turned right to quickly reach a field corner, where I turned left and followed the field edge to return to the road that runs through Gaddesden Row (I think the road is also called Gaddesden Row).

I turned right and followed the road for maybe a hundred yards, then took a path on the other side (the fingerpost said it was a mile and a quarter to Briden's Camp). Whereas I'd remembered much of the previous path, I didn't really remember this path at all. After passing a property on my right, it entered a huge field and continued for several hundred yards along the left edge of the field. Eventually I came to a gap in the hedge on my left, where I joined a track on the other side and continued on in the same direction. Initially there was a fairly new hedge on my left, with a meadow beyond it, but then the hedge ended and the track just followed the right edge of a number of large corn fields for several hundred yards. I saw more Chicory along here.
