I did this walk of about 8.9 miles on Monday, 11th December, 2023. It was a repeat of a walk I first did in September 2016.

I started walking about 9:05am, from the Pitstone Hill car park (Grid Reference SP 954148). I went straight up the hillock next to the car park and, after admiring the all round views and taking a couple of photos, went down the other side, where I joined the Ridgeway national trail as it made its way gently up to the top of Pitstone Hill. There were more good views here, although the low sun made it tricky taking photos in some directions (as I would find for much of the walk). I continued along the Ridgeway as it then descended the other side of the hill, bearing left and following part of an ancient earthwork called Grim's Ditch.

The Ridgeway then continued through the woods of Aldbury Nowers for over half a mile. There were more good views to my right as I passed through part of the Aldbury Nowers nature reserve. When I eventually reached a path T-junction, I stayed on the Ridgeway as it turned right through part of the nature reserve. It then turned left (where a footpath went straight on to reach a road) along a bridleway with hedges either side (it was heading straight into the sun, so it was difficult getting photos along here). After almost another half a mile I came to a bridleway crossroads, where I stayed on the Ridgeway as it turned right, going a short way slightly downhill to reach a minor road. I turned right here and followed the road into the village of Tring Station.
