Pete's Walks- Southeast from Watlington Hill (page 2 of 4)

I turned right along the lane to head southwards. After some distance a bridleway forked slightly left from the lane, following a garden boundary on the left, soon crossing the end of the lane (or maybe it's now a drive here) before dropping steadily downhill with some fine beech trees on the right. Where the tree-lined bridleway turned slightly left, I took a path going right (actually, it's almost straight on), descending across a small area of scrub (where I saw some Primroses) and then down across a sheep pasture to reach some trees and then another of the drives through the Wormsley estate. A path continued on the other side of the drive, rising up across another sheep pasture to reach more trees running alongside Holloway Lane.

A bridleway started on the other side of the lane, soon running between hedges either side, then turning right just inside Idlecombe Wood. After a couple of hundred yards or so the bridleway turned left and rose quite steeply through the wood to reach Turville Heath. I turned left here along a track for a little way, then turned right to cross the heath and reach a small parking area at a road junction. Here I turned right along a lane and soon reached a T-junction.

I continued along a footpath on the opposite side of the junction, which led down the drive of a house called Saviours and through a gate, continuing near the edge of an area of long grass with the house over to my right. Through a gate I continued through an empty pasture, and then crossed a corner of a larger pasture (sloping out of view on my right) to a metal kissing-gate.
