I have seen this delightful flower on some of my local walks (my circuit round the Ashridge area, and my walk to Totternhoe and back). The Collins Gem Guide to Wild Flowers describes it as one of 'the most gorgeous British and European wildflowers'. It grows mainly on chalk or limestone downs, flowering between June and October.
