The bridleway continued along a good track, soon passing Ongar Hill farm on my right and eventually ending on a minor road. Almost opposite, a footpath continued northwards, initially between garden boundaries and then along the left edge of a field. The path turned right in the far corner of the field, and then I turned left at a path T-junction, the new path being a wide grassy track between green fields. On passing through a hedgerow I turned right, joining the route of the Chiltern Way, and followed it back to the A355.

Across the main road (not quite so busy this time), I continued following the Chiltern Way eastwards - it must be about four and a half years since I last walked here, and I very much enjoyed re-visiting these paths. I soon passed a field on my left with a few Belted Galloway cows in it (I'd seen some Highland Cattle near Jordans earlier, probably the only other breed of cattle I can recognise). The path crossed the drive to Brentwood Grange, a large house to my left, and then continued through an empty pasture close to Brentwood Grange Farm. The very pleasant path then stayed close to a left-hand hedge through a couple more empty pastures, and then in the next pasture soon switched to the left of the hedgerow. The path then soon dropped slightly downhill to reach Bottom House Farm Lane (which I'd crossed before early on in this walk, and would cross again fairly shortly).
