Across the road I went down the drive to a property (named Dirtywood Farm on the OS map, but the sign at the start of the drive said Hampden Chase). The footpath now goes left along a hedgerow round the garden of this property, before continuing gently uphill to reach Widnell Wood. After a few yards along a track, the path forked half-right, heading uphill at an angle through the trees. Towards the top of the slope I came to a path junction, where I turned very sharply left.

The path continued through the wood, very gradually descending and drawing closer to the edge of the wood on my left. After almost half a mile I came to a path T-junction where I turned right. After a short distance the path turned left, then within a few yards I turned right (the path going straight on here is not on the map and presumably not a right of way). I was now going uphill through Hengrove Wood, and I soon went right (or half-right) at another path junction. The path continued uphill through the wood, until it ended close to the end of an old lane (from Buckmoorend to Little Hampden)

I went a few yards right to the end of this old lane, where a total of six paths or bridleways meet. I took the first path on the left - for the first few yards it was actually a bridleway (part of the South Bucks Way), but then I turned right on to a public footpath. This initially ran through Chisley Wood, with a field close by on my right. Further on the wood becomes Goodmerhill Wood, and eventually the path drops downhill to a five-way junction. Here I went straight on, gently uphill at first, through Fugsdon Wood until I reached a lane.
