Pete's Walks - Swan's Way

Post-walk comments

I enjoyed walking Swan’s Way. The route was generally very flat and, being a bridleway, there was more road walking than usual, but nevertheless it made for a very pleasant walk. I even found the section through Milton Keynes quite pleasant, much more interesting than I’d envisaged it to be. The route was generally well signposted or waymarked, and as it was a bridleway the actual paths were almost always very clear and easy to follow. There wasn’t too much of historic interest on the route, apart from the Roman villa in Milton Keynes and the church at Swanbourne. As for wildlife, I saw a couple of stoats, Buzzards on most days and, of course, plenty of Red Kites as I followed the northern edge of the Chiltern Hills.

In summary, it was a very pleasant walk, not one of the best routes I’ve done but well worth doing. I’m glad I decided to try this long-distance bridleway.
