Two paths entered Piggott's Wood here, and I took the left-most one (the West Wycombe, Speen, Hughenden walk I mentioned earlier takes the other path - this was the third and last time I'd cross the route of that walk today). The path through the wood initially stayed close to fields or paddocks to my left, before turning right and heading downhill. On leaving the wood it continued downhill beside a hedge on the right, with good views ahead and to either side over a steep-sided valley - I presume the valley is called Bryant's Bottom, the same as the village along its floor.

On reaching the road in the valley bottom, I turned left. After a hundred yards or so I took a path on the right, which went steeply up the other side of the valley, initially between garden boundaries. It wasn't as far a climb as the previous one and the steep bit was soon over, the path levelling out as it ran between paddock fences to reach Dennerhill Farm. Here there was a good view over Hughenden in its valley.

I turned left along a bridleway as soon as I reached Dennerhill Farm, then after a hundred yards or so turned sharply right on a drive heading back towards the farm, curving left in front of the attractive farmhouse. The public footpath continued down a farm track, then descended Denner Hill into another steep-sided valley, the path following a hedgerow on my right.
