I crossed a minor road in the valley bottom and took the path on the other side that climbed the other side of the valley - this was the third bit of uphill in quick succession, but they seemed to get progressively shorter and less steep. Towards the top of the hill I entered Nanfan Wood, where the path soon levelled out. I soon spotted a single clump of Primroses here - apart from these and numerous patches of Lesser Celandine, it was a disappointing walk in terms of the wildflowers I saw. It was a pleasant stroll for almost half a mile through the wood, until I went through a kissing-gate at a path junction at the northeast tip of the wood (here I was touching on Walk 11 of my Chiltern Chain Walk).

I turned left along the edge of a field with Nanfan Wood now on my left. There was a slight rise here over the brow of a hill. As the path continued down the other side, there was a good view right of woods, fields, hills and valleys. Partway down this hillside, the path went half-left through a corner of Nanfan Wood, then continued in the same direction downhill across a large pasture to reach a road junction.
